ways of travel

I know I'm not the only one who looks back on the past two years and wonders where the hell they went. I mean, sure, maybe a global pandemic had something to do with it...just maybe.

With that being said, I've decided 2022 is the year for travel. It was a privilege many of us may have taken for granted pre-2020, but now, it's time to do what we all love most and finally get back to seeing the world on our terms.

I'm so excited to have partnered with Ways of Travel and to be their new brand ambassador!
Picture
Ways of Travel is built for those who live the on-the-go lifestyle. Their line is all about comfort, quality, and versatility. I love wearing my Ways of Travel gear when I'm catching flights, working from home, or even sometimes a night out on the town. If you know me, you know I live in comfy long sleeve shirts. My WOT long sleeve has been my go-to for almost any occassion. All apparel is made in South Central Los Angeles, and shipped to Nashville for the designs to be applied.

I've always been a believer that travel is the most important thing we can do for our personal development journeys. Learning different ways of life is what gives us the ability to look at our own lives through a lens of perspective. WOT is inspired by all that is seen and felt through traveling the world. Inspired by cultures from around the globe, each unique design resonates with the sounds, sights, and feelings experienced through new adventures. Cultural music, film, sports, literature, technology, and engineering joins together in Ways of Travel fashion.

The apparel line is made in South Central Los Angeles, and shipped to Nashville for the designs to be applied. Ways of Travel isn’t just about where you’re going. It’s about how you get there.

I think I can speak for everyone by saying this year has been a bit of a fast blur. For the most part, it feels like I closed my eyes in March and opened them sometime in August. With that being said, the Fall season is among us and although Florida weather doesn't participate in seasonal weather(rude), I love to keep things festive and get in the Fall spirit with my wardrobe! In this blog post, I'll be highlighting the latest addition to my closet, which are these stunning Steve Madden Boots!
Picture
Originally, I picked out the Tristan Boot in Black Leather, but the Fall spirit took over me and I went with them in Cognac Leather. I'm so happy I did! I love how versatile yet classic they are. The pointed toe is completely on trend while the Cognac Leather is a classic color and material that will simply never go out of style. Steve Madden has always been my go-to brand for trendy and QUALITY shoes. I want shoes that feel like I could walk 10 miles in, especially when it comes to boots. These boots were definitely made for walking.

Not to mention, I ordered through Zappos and was totally impressed with the efficient and seamless delivery process. They provided me with fast, free shipping, and even have a 365-day return policy. They also offer stellar customer service! Nobody has time for complicated processes these days so ordering through Zappos fits perfectly in all of our busy lives.

I styled the Tristan Boot with a pair of high waisted, light washed, ripped jeans and a cozy rust colored cashmere sweater with a high neck line and fitted sleeves. I accessorized with a Beige wide-brimmed hat and some dainty gold jewelry. Not going to lie, something about a Fall inspired outfit and some bomb shoes really makes a girl feel on top of the world.

Steve Madden shoes are an essential part of a woman’s wardrobe and their new fall/ holiday collection is truly proof of it! Check out their latest styles on Zappos.com

summer essentials with vilebrequin

New summer, new plans. For me, this summer will be about relaxing, unwinding and, of course, some exploring. As an OOO Expert, I know a thing or two about vacationing like a pro.  The beautiful part of living in Miami is that even when you stay in town, it still feels like a vacation. My go-to tip: I like to head to a hotel in South Beach for the perfect staycation weekend.

I teamed up with Vilebrequin to show you how their new High Summer collection is perfect for all summer travels, even when you’re staying local.

This maxi dress is a staple dress that can be dressed down for a casual lunch on the beach or dressed up with jewelry for a fancy dinner (preferably seafood…my favorite).

Cooling down from the summer heat: there’s nothing more refreshing than a cool dip after working on a tan. This classic one piece is perfect from the beach to the pool, and maybe even to the bar with some denim shorts.

It is important to me to fill my closet with versatile pieces–something that works for many occasions. I’m also a sucker for high-quality, comfortable pants that can be worn lounging at home or out and about. This one piece can also easily be turned into a bodysuit when paired with high-waisted jeans or shorts.

No matter what your summer plans are, comfort and style are key. I’m so excited to spend the rest of the season relaxing in style.

This post was in partnership with Vilebrequin.

miami art basel week 2017

12/12/2017

For one week out of the year, Miami turns into "the city that doesn't sleep". If you're like me, you want to try to do every single thing possible and over book your schedule times 3. Hopefully you're not like me.

Although I'm a local to Miami, unlike the majority of visitors for Art Basel, I'm still trying to master how to tackle it myself! For the past 2 years, I didn't feel like I took advantage of this awesome week. I worked events and went to an art gallery here or there. This year I wanted to dive in. Unfortunately, the universe aligned my final exams to be the same week. As much as I wanted to pretend 60% of my final grades didn't depend on this week, I did what any other responsible yet FOMO driven college student would do- Try to do both at the same time.

Originally, I wanted to work with a stylist for my looks but I didn't end up having time to meet with someone (remember that whole trying to do both thing?) So I ran to one of my favorite places ever, Buffalo Exchange in Downtown Hollywood. I had an idea of the types of looks I wanted to go for, so I grabbed whatever caught my eye. Since my usual wardrobe is very casual & comfy, I wanted to do something different for me...more out there. I don't always look like a fashionista, but when I do, Art Basel is my excuse.

I'll always be honest with you guys so as much as I'd like to say this event was an incredible kick off to the week, I won't lie to ya. Let's just say my favorite part of the night was my outfit.

I came for the free live music by Miami Symphony Orchestra and the "bubbly & bites" as advertised on the flyer. Given, it was a public event but it turns out the free alcohol & bites were for VIP only. Oops!

I did enjoy the performance and my overpriced pizza from the pop up pizza joint.

I threw this look together with a black lace crop top, my favorite high-waisted denim shorts from Garage, and this perfect little flower embroidered cardigan/kimono that I picked up from Buffalo Exchange. I pulled the look together with a slick back bun & over sized silver hoops. You'll notice the slick back bun for pretty much my whole week. This was before I got my haircut (thank you OREN Salon!) & I just didn't feel like dealing with it. I had also never tried this look but was inspired by friend Bianca Elouise who always slays the slick back! Not only did I love the way it looked, I loved the way it felt. Up and out of my face.

Day 2- wynwood & doheny room

Okay, now we're at the good stuff. This look was probably the one I was most excited about. This glittery & sheer body suit caught my eye on the rack at Buffalo Exchange and it was just the type of vibe I was looking for. I paired it with flared pants from a previous collaboration with Pop Cherry and pulled it together with my go-to belt and Steve Madden strap heels.

Anyone who knows Wynwood knows that I was a bit overdressed for this lowkey, (sneaker preferred) part of town but hey my excuse is Art Basel, right? Right.

Doheny room at the Delano Hotel
After Wynwood, our group headed to Doheny Room in the Delano Hotel for the unveiling of the art work by Nicolas Corradi. The music was great and our company was better! Though it wasn't the most popping off thing in town that night, Damaged Goods kept the beats flowing and kept our feet dancing. Give me good friends and music and it's bound to be a great night. We danced up a storm.

day 3- doheny room & e11even

I ended up back at the Delano the next night to meet up with a few friends in town from LA. I didn't know exactly what the night had in store for us, but I was prepared for anything.

I was super excited to rock this funky, Chinese newspaper print crop top that was designed and hand made by one of my oldest family friends and someone who is basically family to me, Chloe Chin. I paired it with pink ruffle pants(Zara), lowcut white pointed boots, & a black sequin backpack. Every item except for the top was grabbed during that pit stop from Buffalo Exchange. I told you guys this place is the bomb.com!

Again, not my usual attire, especially not for going out to a club, but I felt cute and comfortable. Anyone who knows me knows I'll always opt for the comfortable option. Not to mention my boots were flat & I had a backpack so I felt very mobile and hands free. My ladies can understand and appreciate how nice that feels!

day 4- scope art fair

Finally, the day I had been waiting for all week came. I was really dying to see some amazing art and SCOPE Art Fair brought me back to life.

I had a completely different outfit planned for this day but Miami decided to bring some cold weather with its art. I switched it up last minute and was SO glad I did. It was a freezing 60 degrees for us Miami folks. I felt so bad for the girls who looked at their mini dresses that night and said "it's fine".

I had been waiting to wear this camo jacket that I picked up from Miami Flea last month and this was the perfect occasion. I matched it with a gray long sleeve turtle neck, olive green skinny jeans, suede rust booties & my little backpack. I have to say this was my favorite outfit of the week, it felt the most "me",

I thoroughly enjoyed this show. There were interesting & compelling pieces around every corner. SCOPE satisfied my craving and left me wanting more.

day 5- jacks miami & context art fair

Another "cold" day for Miami so I planned my outfit accordingly. I re-wore my gray turtle neck and threw on my black ripped jeans and wine booties. I finished off the look with my favorite MVMT accessories.

First stop was at Jack's Miami for the Beach Body Boutique and Kayline Collection pop-ups. Erika Wheaton & Kattya Heredia are the owners of the two swim lines and also beautiful friends of mine! I was so happy I was able to  show support for them and their business endeavors.

Context is the neighbor tent to Art Miami which is one of the weeks largest shows. The shorter line and cheaper tickets at Context had us sold.

FYI: almost all of the shows give a student discount- typically $5-$10 off the normal ticket. Just make sure you have your student ID with you.

Here are some of my favorites.

As the night time approached and the temperature dropped, I opted for my trench coat from to keep me cozy. I caught the last few minutes of the golden hour to snap some shots.

This was probably my best Basel week so far. Each year seems to get better as I get more and more involved. It's a booming time for art, socialites, and business. I'm delighted that I get to experience it in my home. Till next year Basel.

Love,
Livv
